DEF CON

Every August, thousands of security practitioners, researchers, makers, and first-time attendees gather in the Las Vegas Convention Center for DEF CON. People come to share ideas, test their skills, meet collaborators, and learn from one another. It is also where the Gluten Free Hackers Collective began.

DEF CON takes place during Hacker Summer Camp, the busy week that also includes Black Hat and BSides Las Vegas. The schedule is packed with talks that range from deep technical research to practical advice, along with late-night events, contests, and plenty of conversations that continue well beyond the official program.

One of the best ways to explore the conference is through its villages. Each village focuses on a different area of security or technology, offering workshops, demonstrations, hands-on challenges, and opportunities to meet people working in that space. Whether you want to learn a new skill, watch a competition, or simply find your corner of the community, DEF CON has a place to start.

Gluten-Free Food at DEF CON

DEF CON itself does not provide food to its attendees. There is a small food court area where you may find food options, but there likely won’t be any Celiac safe gluten-free options other than prepackaged chips. However, there are many great food options nearby. Check the main Hacker Summer Camp page for good gluten-free eats!
